Name: Itzel Sanchez
Description: For this project, we first read the book The Dot. The child in the story created art pieces that included dots so, this project entailed making our own dots. We were able to choose our own design, color, and coloring supplies. I chose to use crayons, watercolor and oil pastels to make my dot. Using a white crayon, I wrote out the word 'love' in the center of my dot. Then, I used blue crayons to outline the circle of the center of my dot and to create wavy lines coming out from the center of the dot as well. Later, I used pastels to create dots and hearts on the sections created by the wavy lines. Finally, I used watercolor to paint my dot and watched as it worked around the crayons and pastel colors and blended with itself in some areas.
Extension Activity: Students would be able to make their own dot as a practice dot. After this they could make a dot for a mathematics unit where they make it all about positive integers.
