HOLIDAY LIGHTS: PASTELS

 Name: Itzel Sanchez

Description: For this project, we learned about holidays around the world and how they are celebrated. After which we used glue to put a string on our papers and created lights to put on our string.

Extension Activity: Language Arts is a great extension activity as students can write a story about each of the lights. For example, the first light is purple because I have siblings and they are. . . This could go on for each light.

SNOWMAN PINCHPOT ~ POTTERY

Name: Itzel Sanchez

Description: For this project, students learned about pottery and different artists that work with pottery to create their art. During this time, students were given a proportion of clay that they then formed into three sections, pinch pots. Then, they learned how to join the three together to form the body of a snowman. They painted their snowmen and added arms, faces, and buttons to complete the image.

Extension Activity: Language arts can be used to create an extension activity. They can write about their favorite things to do when it snows, what they would use their snowman pinch pot for, or even just a creative story about a snowman.

THANKSGIVING BEADWORK ~ PATTERN

 Name: Itzel Sanchez

Description: For this project, we learned about great information on patterns and beadwork before diving into our project. Then, we got to create a cob of corn using beadwork and patterns. Then, we created a Thanksgiving placemat that included a pattern as well.

Extension Activity: Language arts is a great way to incorporate an extension to this activity. Students will be able to write a short story about their favorite things about Thanksgiving, while also writing what they are thankful for in their life.

PERSONAL ADJECTIVES ~ 2D ART

 Name: Itzel Sanchez

Description: For this project, we learned lots of neat information about two artists who work with 2D art. After this, we created a list of 5 personal adjectives that we would use to describe ourselves. From the five adjectives, we chose our top three and then found letters to spell the adjectives from magazines.

Extension Activity: Language arts can be used to create an extension for this activity. Students can write a story about their adjectives that they chose to put on their project.

FALL PUMPKIN ~ DRAWING

 Name: Itzel Sanchez

Description: For this project, we learned about drawing which was very informative. After this, we got to draw pumpkins and fill them in with our favorite things about fall.

Extension Activity: An extension to this activity could be from Language Arts. Students would write a short story explaining what they drew within their pumpkin.

Project 5~ HIDDEN ANIMAL SAFARI

 Name: Itzel Sanchez

Description: For this project, we learned about Henri Rousseau and looked at some of his jungle scene artwork. This was super neat to see before jumping into our own project. First, we made red glasses that would be the cherry on top of our completed project. Our next step was to choose our own animal that would be present in a jungle safari. We turned this image upside and began drawing it on our paper with a blue pencil. After completing our animal, we began drawing patterns overtop the animal with warm colors. This covered the animal that we drew with the blue pencil and the neat part is how the pattern overtop the animal makes the animal visible only when wearing our red glasses.

Extension Activity: This could be tied to a science assignment. Students will choose an animal and create their hidden safari drawing. After, they will create a diorama of the habitat their animal would live in. They will create a poster to go with their diorama listing what they eat and three facts about the animal itself.
